It's about language and chocolate and cats. Maya Cacao is the incredible true story of how the ancient Maya glyphs were decifered because of the work of inspired women artists and archeologists Tatiana Proskuriakoff, Linda Shele and Merle Green Robertson whose research and ideas were propelled by the great breakthrough by Yuri Knorozov, a linguist born in Kharkiv, who first connected Maya glyphs with phonetic syllabic elements. He always claimed his cat Asya helped him. So why not take the man at his word?
Our first workshop of "Maya Cacao" took place on Tuesday June 9 at 8PM Ukrainian National Home,
140 Second Ave New York City.
